Anna-Maryke has taken her theme, so successfully launched three years ago in a collection of still life photographic works, to a new level of sumptuous and evocative images.

Riding on a painting tradition going back as far as the ancient Egyptians, and, arguably, reaching its summit with the Dutch Masters in the 17th century, Anna-Maryke has found a unique way of expressing the celebration of life in nature through the contemporary art form of colour photography. It is a most unusual approach, one that unveils a different view of the natural world.

Anna-Maryke meticulously sets up her own compositions of flowers and produce gathered from her garden in the Southern Highlands, used found objects, birds, insects, and fur and animals that finally resemble banquets of the gods.

Luscious fabrics of rich velvet and brocade, draped with folds enhanced with subtle application of light and shadow, bring a linkage with the human dimension in a Baroque evocation of luxury and opulence, suffused with style.

Texture and sensitive surface treatment of all the objects interact in a juxtaposition that delights the eye and shows insight into the celebration of Nature’s gifts.

The images are uncommonly large, approximately 1220mm X 920mm, and are executed in the Ilfochrome technique on glossy archival paper, framed in piano-finish wood. To give credence to her guarantee that each piece is an original with no possibility of duplication, Anna-Maryke will cut up the transparency of each print and then give it with a certificate of exclusivity to the buyer.
